Scripture Reading

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Insight on the Word

The word “ask” is found in Scripture 109 times and 44 of these times it has to do with prayer to God for needful things. As believers, we should believe in and have confidence in the infinite fatherhood of God. We should believe that He will give all things which are best to His children, and that He will give exactly what is asked according to His will and His Word (Luke 11:11-13; Matthew 7:7-11; 1 John 3:19-22; Psalm 84:11).

What are some of the “all things” we may ask for? The “all things” that are promised and provided by God in the gospel. And in the gospel “all things” are promised “that pertain unto life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3-4; Psalm 84:11). Just a few of the “all things” God promises to His children are: help from God (2 Chronicles 20:4); things to come (Isaiah 45:11); the old paths (Jeremiah 6:16); spiritual rain (Zechariah 10:1); wants (Psalm 34:9-10); healing (Psalms 103:1-4); good things (Matthew 7:7-11); what you will (Mark 11:24); the Holy Spirit (Luke 11:9-13); whatsoever (John 14:13); all needs (Philippians 4:19); wisdom (James 1:5-8); anything (1 John 5:14); life (1 John 5:16).

Unbelievers doubt the ability, willingness, and love of God to do all things for His children today. But the truth remains: “whatsoever,” “anything,” “all things,” “what ye will,” “what things soever ye desire,” “whatsoever he saith,” and other unlimited terms are found in Scripture again and again, thus assuring the possibilities and absolute certainty of answered prayer. Decide today to be a believer. Trust that God is true to His Word. Be confident and know that if God has promised, then he will fulfill His promise!

Speak the Word — I believe when I pray, I receive all things. (Matthew 21:22)
