Psalm 113:9 He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

Insight on the Word

One of the greatest blessings of our salvation is the fact that we are part of a family. God is our Father! In the Lord’s prayer we are taught to pray: “Our Father which art in heaven,” (Matthew 6:9) When the Father spoke of His Son in the Gospels He said: “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)

Not only is Christ the Son of God, but we too have become God’s children; “and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:18) Indeed God is also pleased with us as His children and delights in His family.

Knowing the joy that children would bring to parents, God blessed mankind to also enjoy the blessings of children. “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth,…” (Genesis 1:28)

This is a great and noble responsibility. “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) If God has entrusted you with children, take time to thank God for them. Do it now, they are only children once and when they are grown, you will look back with precious memories of these days.

If you don’t have children of your own, why not make it a point to be a blessing to the first child you meet today. Do something special for a child and like Jesus you will show your love to God’s little ones. (Mark 10:13-16)

If you are believing God for children to be added to your family, let this promise of Psalms 113:9 be your confession. Remember God brings to us much joy with the children He has given to us.
