Psalm 29:11 The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.

Insight on the Word

Strength and peace are the two benefits which God gives to His people. Isaiah tells us that those who “wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31). Imagine running and not tiring, walking without fainting! Yes, strength comes when we worship through prayer or “waiting” in God’s presence. This strength is more that just outward physical strength however, it is also strength to our inner man: “…be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;” (Ephesians 3:16)

The second benefit God gives is that of peace. Peace greater than what the world understands or can know. Jesus said: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). This peace can be found in even the most difficult of circumstances and at all times. “Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all” (2 Thessalonians 3:16).

Imagine the Lord Himself sharing His strength and peace with His people. Strength brings peace in our lives. Jesus demonstrated this when he rebuked the storm. “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” (Mark 4:39)

If you or facing one of the storms that this life brings, call upon the strength of the Lord. Then rest in His peace that the storm will subside. Remember the Lord’s promise: “The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.”
